A “TOTALLY” SUCCESSFUL TRIP IN THE UK
By Russ Wige, Technical Sales Director
Having worked in the gaming industry for over 34 years and with TransAct for nearly 14 years, I have had many opportunities to travel to England for tradeshows. This year was no exception, as the gaming team and I made the trip across the pond to attend the Totally Gaming Slot Summit in London and to check out TransAct’s new warehouse in Doncaster, England. The trip was filled with meetings, client visits and crumpets (just a few!).
Held from November 14 to 16, the Totally Gaming Slot Summit is a dedicated meeting for casino professionals. This unique conference gives professionals the chance to join interactive discussions and share ideas within a closed forum focused on challenges that affect the casino industry. The theme for the event was “Innovation for Land-Based Casinos,” which was sparked by the recent UK regulatory decision. The summit focused on seeing opportunity and innovating in all aspects of the casino’s world in the face of both competitive and regulatory challenges. In addition to the masterclasses that were held, the event also hosted a tradeshow for gaming companies to display their products.
At the show, TransAct stood out with its display of the Epic Edge TITO printer, which is currently being tested by OEMs. The “Edge” is built on the proven long-term performance of the Company’s Epic 950, casino printer which is currently installed in over a half a million slots throughout hundreds of casinos worldwide. The Epic Edge offers operators an enhanced 300 DPI print resolution, delivering a 50 percent improvement over current printers and producing eye-catching tickets and razor-sharp barcodes. It also includes an adjustable ticket bucket that accommodates standard tickets and smaller, paper-saving tickets. To further help slot machine operators, the firmware’s update port has been upgraded to USB. As a Technical Sales Director, I work very closely and hands-on with our gaming hardware and I can personally attest how these new efficient and time-saving features will make a world of difference in the TITO printer industry.
In addition to attending the tradeshow, I visited TransAct’s new facility in Doncaster with Armando Flores, our Director of Marketing. Since the Company is continuing to grow in Europe, this location will serve as a chief operations center for the region. While we were there, Armando and I updated all demonstrations for the UK and ensured that all hardware and software was ready for ICE, our upcoming tradeshow in London.
Overall, the visit proved to be a success. In between product demonstrations, I was also happy to work with TransAct’s UK team, which includes Robert Denham, Vice President of Sales and Product Management in Europe and Virginie Bellaton, Casino Sales Manager in Europe. While TransAct is a global company, we enjoy the benefits of working with a tight-knit team, so it’s always great to see the rest of the crew in person. Until next time, England!
