Series 60 Manual Configuration
The Series 60 can change its own configuration by pressing the "SELECT" and "SLIP" keys at power up or when it is in diagnostics mode. When these keys are released the unit will enter one of two modes. If the unit is configured with a journal the journal will be used for configuration display. If no journal is available the slip station will be used. If the journal station is used the current configuration will be printed. If the slip station is used a slip must be inserted.
To insert a slip place a sheet of paper on the slip table that is at least 4 inches wide. Slide the paper as far to the right as possible. When the slip is in position both the select and error lights will be lit. Because the slip will be printed in reverse it is of advantage to place the paper as far in the unit as possible. When the slip is in position press the "SLIP" key and the current configuration will be printed.
When the configuration is printed the paper will be fed forward enough to allow the configuration to be read.
The configuration mode is now ready to accept configuration changes. Each key and combination of keys will alter a configuration value. The keys will alter values as follows:
"SLIP" - Serial or Parallel
This key will toggle between serial and parallel communications mode
"RECEIPT" - Serial mode
This key will cycle through the serial mode options as follows:
8 bit no parity
7 bit even parity
7 bit odd parity
7 bit no parity
8 bit even parity
8 bit odd parity
"JOURNAL" - Baud Rate
This key will cycle through the baud rates available as follows:
19200
9600
4800
2400
1200
600
300
"JOURNAL + RECEIPT" - Feature Select
These keys select the available features by cycling through the available configurations as follow
Slip Station only
Slip and Journal Stations
Slip and Receipt Stations
Slip, Journal, and Receipt Stations
Any other combination will exit the mode if called from diagnostics or restart the mode if requested at power up.
If the unit is turned off during configuration, whatever configuration was last displayed will be saved in the EEPROM.
The device description field can not be programmed from this mode. There is no way to enter alpha-numeric data. If this field is to be changed, the remote configuration program CFG60 must be used.
