TRANSACT TECHNOLOGIES EXPANDS DUAL-PORT TECHNOLOGY AND UNLOCKS VALUE OF SERVER-BASED GAMING
Expansion Realizes Tremendous Benefits for Real-Time Marketing on Slot Floor
WALLINGFORD, Conn., March 15, 2007 – TransAct Technologies, Incorporated. (Nasdaq: TACT), a global leader in market-specific printers for transaction-based industries, today announced that they will showcase its newly expanded Epic™ line of Gaming printers with its alliance partner, JCM American, at the upcoming National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) trade show and convention in Phoenix, Arizona, March 25-28, 2007. The printers feature TransAct’s patented Dual-Port Technology – a cutting edge innovation that unlocks new advantages for server-based gaming systems, including real-time marketing on the slot floor.
TransAct recognizes Native American gaming drove much of the central determination systems that pioneered the technology drive to server-based gaming. Now, TransAct’s patented Dual-Port Technology has been making an impact as a catalyst for industry innovation in that area, with its flexible technology spanning across multiple patents, and allowing the same printer to be used to print both vouchers and coupons.
Jon Berkley, Senior Vice President and Business Manager, Global Gaming and Lottery of TransAct Technologies, said “Dual-Port Technology creates the opportunity for driving peripherals that will prove integral to the adoption of server-based technologies going forward. As EGMs are being implemented into server-based applications, there are technological challenges associated with bringing the slot machine into a server-based network. Our exclusive Dual-Port technology addresses those challenges.”
Prior to the incorporation of Dual-Port, managing multiple data inputs would create collision issues as the messages from multiple interfaces would create situations that could tilt the EGM. TransAct’s Dual-Port Technology eliminates those issues. The technology, and associated patents, allow for any peripheral in a gaming device to be connected to the slot machine (EGM or local controller) and to the central system (such as a player tracking system) simultaneously.
Dual-Port Technology is currently being used in TransAct’s Epic line of gaming and lottery printers -- the Epic950, Epic630 and the new Epic430, kiosk printer and can be seen at NIGA in the JCM American Booth #836.
