TransAct Technologies Opens Gaming and VLT Office in Las Vegas
Appoints Jon Berkley as VP and Business Manager, Gaming


WALLINGFORD, CT., May 28, 2003 -- TransAct Technologies Incorporated (NASDAQ: TACT), producer of Ithaca® brand transaction-based printers for customers worldwide, today announced the opening of its new office in Las Vegas, NV, part of the company's efforts to expand its business in the gaming and video lottery terminal (VLT) markets.

To head up the Las Vegas enterprise, TransAct Technologies has appointed Las Vegas resident Jon Berkley as vice president and business manager of gaming. Berkley's background includes twelve years of managing high-growth technology-based businesses.

The TransAct Las Vegas office will serve the casino and video lottery markets with product lines such as Ithaca® Series 700 and 800 thermal ticket printers for coinless slots and Series 70 impact ticket printers for video lottery, poker, keno and other unattended games. Reporting to Berkley is OEM Sales Manager Larry Sagneri. Additionally, he will indirectly manage European gaming business through TransAct's Europe-Middle East-Africa office in the UK, headed by Andy Reason.

Jon Berkley will be responsible for managing and directing TransAct's worldwide gaming business and gaming sales strategy and will direct all sales activities in the gaming industry. He notes, "Traditional Gaming operators, Racinos, State Lotteries, and Indian Gaming operators are all creating demand beyond anything we have seen in the past and TransAct Technologies has positioned itself to provide an expanding range of products to multiple distribution points in this exploding sector."

Most recently, Berkley was CEO of Tech I Bank, a financial consulting business. His previous experience includes heading four successful start-up companies. In addition, he served on various government and White House staffs in Washington, DC. He earned a masters degree in business administration from the University of Virginia.
